Salt is a must-have in the kitchen, obviously, but yet we are still so afraid to use it! Understandably so since you only need about 1/3 tsp of salt a day to keep your body in balance. But salt when used to finish your dish can add a whole new dimension of flavor! Use to season snacks, meals & cocktails.
Red Wine / White Wine
2 tsp red or white wine
1/3 c sea salt
Spread the salt on a plate & pour your favorite red wine over top, gently stir. Don't worry, it won't melt! Cover & let sit for a few hours to let the wine sink in. Sprinkle atop your watermelon for a sweet & salty treat.
Smoky Salt
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 c sea salt
Use this salt to finish quite honestly any item coming right off the barbeque. We especially love to use this on grilled ears of corn!
Chili Lime Salt
1/4 c sea salt
1 tsp red repper flakes
1 1/2 tsp fresh lime zest
Mix these three ingredients together & voila! you know have a spicy salt to sprinkle on your seafood prior to digging in!
Mushroom Salt
1/2 c dried porcini mushrooms, powdered
1/4 c sea salt
We purchased our dried porcini mushrooms from our neighbor down the street, Pennsylvania Macaroni Company! Toss them in a food processor & pulse until powdered. Add to your sea salt & use to top pastas or risottos featuring mushrooms or a sizzlin' steak!
Italian Herb Salt

2 Tablespoons dried oregano leaves
2 Tablespoons dried basil leaves

mix all of the ingredients together & use to season poultry or vegetables!
Dill Pickle Flavored Sea Salt
1 c fresh dill leaves, stems removed

Dry your dill, either by using a dehydrator or your oven! (If using a dehydrator, we suggest 95 degrees to 4-6 hours. In your oven, use the lowest setting possible (warm or proof if available) & dry completely. This should take around 2 hours). Put your dried dill in a food processor & pulse a few times. Mix in to your salt flakes.
