  • 1.5 cups Neutral Oil, we recommend Avocado or Grapeseed Oil 

  • 4-5 green onions 

  • 2 Serrano Peppers, finely chopped

  • 1 shallot, roughly chopped

  • 10 garlic cloves, roughly chopped

  • 1 knob of fresh garlic, peeled and minced

  • 1 teaspoon peppercorns

  • 1/4 Cup red chili flakes

  • 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika

  • 1 Tablespoon Black Garlic Tamari Balsamic Vinegar (Available in Store Only)

  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon MSG

  • 2 star anise pods


Add your chili flakes, peppercorns, smoked paprika, Sugar, MSG, star anise to a stainless steel bowl and set aside. NOTE: Do NOT use plastic bowls for this recipe as the hot oil could potentially melt the plastic.

Add oil & Black Garlic Tamari Balsamic Vinegar to a saucepan or wok with peppers, shallot, & garlic before turning on the heat. This will help all of these "crispy bits" from burning up immediately. Remove peppers, shallot & garlic just as they begin to turn golden brown with a spider strainer & set aside. The residual heat and oil later will help finish cooking them & making them extra crispy. 

Add green onion and ginger to saucepan or wok & let fry briefly in oil, about 1-2 minutes.

Add your shallots, peppers, and garlic to your stainless steel bowl. Pour the hot oil very carefully over all ingredients in stainless steel bowl and let sizzle until cool enough to funnel into mason jar for storage.
